Oral presentations of free papers that are accepted will be presented during the free paper sessions of the 2 day scientific program. Selected orals will be given approximately 15 minutes to present however exact presentation time will be confirmed via email closer to the conference. Those not accepted for oral presentation may be accepted as poster presentations.  

Selected poster presentations will be asked to give a 5 minute oral presentation outlining a summary of the work detailed on the poster. There will be prizes available for the best ranked posters. 

Please note the following important information:

ABSTRACT DETAILS:

Please make clear if the paper is being submitted for consideration for an oral or poster presentation, or both. Those accepted for oral presentation do not need to generate a poster. If authors indicate “both”, where the abstract is not accepted as an oral presentation it may be accepted as a poster. The following guidelines outline the instructions for abstract submission. 

• The title should be brief, but adequate to clearly identify the nature of the study.
• The name and location(s) where the work was undertaken must also appear.
• The body of the abstract should be no more than 350 words. Words beyond that limit will be removed prior to review. Tables are not included in word count.
• The abstract needs to be submitted as text.

The abstract should contain the following:

• A brief background and a maximum of two sentences stating the study’s objectives.
• A brief statement of methods used.
• A summary of the results - including a brief comment on statistical methods, and key outcome data.
• A brief discussion indicating the implications of the findings (NB it is not satisfactory to state, “the results will be discussed”).

CASE REPORT

Case reports may be submitted for either poster presentation OR for the oral presentation session. Case reports should follow the above guidelines, but include the following sections:

• Introduction
• Case summary
• Brief summary of discussion

We encourage abstracts to be presented on any topic relevant to poisoning/toxicology. 

PRIZES

The organisers of TAPNA are pleased to announce that we have secured four prizes relating to the submissions for TAPNA. 

These will be awarded as follows:     

• $500 for the TAPNA best poster original research - this will be awarded to the best poster that presents original research, either clinical or non-clinical studies, but not case reports. Plus TAPNA will cover the cost if they want to publish in Toxicology Communications. 
• $500 for the TAPNA best oral original research - this will be awarded to the best oral that presents original research, either clinical or non-clinical studies, but not case reports.    
• $400 for the TAPNA best presentation by a specialist in poisons information (original research or case report) - SPI Prize
• $400 for the TAPNA best case report - this will be awarded to the best case report that is presented in the oral session. Plus TAPNA will cover the cost if they want to publish in Toxicology Communications. 

RULES

1.  SPI prize – Eligible only to specialists in poisons information for presentations on both days of the conference.
2.  Judges may allocate more than one prize to a single presenter. i.e.. They will be allocated based on merit.
3.  A single presentation cannot receive more than one prize.
