Paul Thornton MB, BCh, MRCPI
Dr. Paul Thornton is the Medical Director of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Clinic and the Congenital Hyperinsulinism Center at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.Dr. Thornton received his medical degree from University College Dublin, Ireland. He completed his pediatric training in hospitals in Ireland, England and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and his endocrinology training at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 1994. In 2003 he became the Medical Director of Endocrinology and diabetes in Cook Children’s Medical Center. He is board certified in Pediatric Endocrinology. In 2012 he was awarded the Cook Children’s Health Care System Endowed Chair for Hyperinsulinism. The Hyperinsulinism center has been recognized as a Center of Excellence for the care of Hyperinsulinism patients by Congenital Hyperinsulinism International. Dr. Thornton's main clinical interest is in improving the care for children with hypoglycemic disorders, congenital adrenal hyperplasia and patients with differences of sexual differentiation.
