HOSTING A COURSE

SPANZA WILL PROVIDE


HOST HOSPITAL REQUIREMENTS

Lead Person

Host hospital to nominate a lead person (usually an anaesthetist) who will facilitate running the course including pre-course liaison and conduct of the course on the day. 

It is recommended another 1-2 non-participants are there on the day to coordinate logistics with the lead person.

Lead person is responsible for:

Environmental safety

Communication between IS PACMaC Committee, Facilitators and Secretariat

Discuss course content and appropirate scenario's with the IS PACMaC Facilitator

 Providing confirmed list of participants 4 weeks prior. Changes are at the discretion of the instructors. 

Arrange location

Arrange the location for the course, including;

Appropriate space for seated debriefing near the simulation space

Space for IO and CPR workshops (two patient beds and large table)

Environment for running real-time scenarios - theatre/PACU - spaces not concurrently used for patient care

Secure an agreement with host-hospital and/or department for course timing, location and resources

AV equipment including HDMI capability for presentations

Provide drugs & disposables

Host hospital will provide all emergency drugs and disposables with the exception of;

Dantrolene, intralipid, EZ IO kit, paediatric defibrillator pads (brand and model of defibrillator needs to be communicated to IS PACMaC)

For environmental fidelity, all emergency equipment (eg defibrillator, anaphylaxis box, MH trolley) should remain in their usual location (ie not brought closer to the simulation space),
