EPIC Yarning

EPIC is the Effective Peri-Procedural Communication interest group within SPANZA. EPIC aims to provide language, communication and imaginative techniques for every child during medical procedures. The ‘EPIC Yarning’ masterclass will involve learning from complex case presentations and highlight how successful interventions can be achieved through utilisation of the EPIC principles. Learning will be interactive and experiential and it is recommended that participants have previously attended the EPIC 1-day workshop, but not essential. During this masterclass you will discover new approaches to engage and empower children having procedures through communication and imaginative techniques.
TIVA Workshop

Join our team of TIVA enthusiasts to explore the art and science of delivering safe, reliable, and practical paediatric TIVA. We will unpack some of the evidence, pharmacology, and TCI models, including a discussion of TIVA adjuvants and an examination of the new Eleveld model. We will also facilitate small group discussions to enable the sharing of recipes, tips, experiences, and questions.
Dot Painting Workshop

Two local Mutitjulu Community-owned businesses Ininti Café & Walkatjara Arts have teamed up to host the exclusive Uluru Dot Painting Experience.This immersive 1.5-hour experience takes place within the Ininti Café at the Cultural Centre, in an exclusive upstairs space offering breathtaking views of Uluru.
Guests are guided by a respected Walkatjara Artist from the Mutitjulu Community, alongside a Walkatjara Arts narrator during this experience. This event invites guests to connect with the ancient Anangu wisdom of the land.
Hear stories in the native Pitjantjatjara language, translated into English, and discover the traditional symbols that hold the spirit of the Anangu people. Guests also enjoy a curated Ininti Morning Tea provided by a dedicated host, featuring:
1. An assortment of filled and plain croissants
2. Fresh banana bread
3. Native-flavoured cookies
4. Seasonal fruit

Paediatric Life Support Workshop
Date: Friday 17 October & Saturday 18 OctoberThis emergency response workshop is an opportunity to update and refresh your paediatric resuscitation knowledge and skills. It is an interactive workshop with stations covering Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support (management of shockable and non-shockable rhythms) as well as newborn resuscitation. This workshop will meet ANZCA CPD standards as a Cardiac Arrest Emergency Response activity.
Can't Intubate, Can't Oxygenate (CICO) Workshop
Date: Friday 17 October & Saturday 18 October
Time: 08:30 - 10:30
Cost: $300. Places are limited.
This emergency response workshop will refresh knowledge and skills relating to front of neck access with a particular emphasis placed on application of these skills to children. It is an interactive workshop with stations covering the use of both needle- and scalpel-based CICO rescue techniques in addition to the recognition, communication and transition to a CICO scenario. This workshop will meet ANZCA CPD standards as a Can’t Intubate, Can’t Oxygenate Emergency Response activity.
Paediatric Regional Anaesthesia Workshop

This workshop will cover ultrasound-guided caudal blocks in children, including anatomy, technique, equipment, additives, continuous catheters and hands-on live scanning. In our remaining time, we will cover a selection of Plan A blocks - high value, low complexity blocks.
Rheumatic Heart Disease Workshop

The Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) Workshop will provide health professionals with valuable insights into the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and RHD. With nearly all new and recurrent cases occurring in Indigenous populations, this workshop highlights the importance of awareness and early intervention. Attendees will hear from experts in the field and engage in hands-on learning activities covering key topics such as the social determinants of RHD, and medical management strategies. This session is ideal for clinicians working in rural, regional, and urban settings who want to enhance their knowledge and improve patient outcomes.
