Call for abstracts

DEADLINE: 11:59pm AEDT MONDAY 2 JUNE 2025.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE STRICTLY NO EXTENSIONS TO THE DEADLINE.

APAMT 2025 welcomes submission of abstracts on topics of interest in the field of Toxicology for Oral/Poster Presentation and Travel Scholarship Application. The APAMT Scientific Committee will evaluate each abstract for originality, research content/depth, correctness, and relevance.

Oral presentations of free papers that are accepted will be presented during the free paper sessions of the 3-day scientific program. Selected orals will be given approximately 15 minutes to present including Q&A, however exact presentation time will be confirmed via email closer to the conference. Those not accepted for oral presentation may be accepted as poster presentations.

Selected poster presentations may be asked to give a 5-minute oral presentation outlining a summary of the work detailed on the poster.

All accepted abstracts will be published in Clinical Toxicology, which is an indexed journal under Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA). This provides greater credibility and visibility for the research among researchers and stakeholders.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on their originality, research content/depth, correctness, and relevance.
  • The Scientific Program Committee will use these rankings to develop the final program.
  • Not all abstracts will necessarily be accepted for presentation.
  • Posters will not be electronic - those allocated a poster will be required to print it and hang it on provided boards.
  • All submissions must be made in English.
  • Tables, graphs and figures are not permitted.
  • Word limit of 350 words.
  • Please do NOT use automatic Word functions, e.g. numbering, bullet points or footnotes.

  • If the research presented was supported by a commercial organisation, a statement identifying this support must be submitted.
  • If the research involved human subjects, it must have been approved by your institutional review board or Human Ethics Committee and conform to international standards of ethical practice. Animal research must have been approved by an appropriate Review Board and conform to the highest standards of human care.
  • An author of any abstract selected for participation on the program must attend the meeting and pay the relevant registration fee.

ABSTRACT DETAILS:

Please make clear if the paper is being submitted for consideration for an oral or poster presentation, or both. Those accepted for oral presentation do not need to generate a poster. If authors indicate “both”, where the abstract is not accepted as an oral presentation it may be accepted as a poster. The following guidelines outline the instructions for abstract submission.

  • References: All references (if any) should appear at the end of the abstract in numerical order as they appear in the text. Ensure references are cited in the text by bracketed numbers [1,2]. Follow the referencing style below. In general the number of references used should be limited to 5 or less. References are included in the word count.
    - References for Journal articles should be formatted as in the following example: Giannini L, Vannacci A, Missanelli A, et al. Amatoxin poisoning: a 15-year retrospective analysis and follow-up evaluation of 105 patients. Clin Toxicol. 2007; 45:539-42.
