ROSALIE SHAW ORATION
The Rosalie Shaw Oration was established by the ANZSPM Council in 2016. Dr Rosalie Shaw delivered the inaugural oration at the Perth conference that same year. The oration honours Rosalie’s contribution to palliative medicine as an early passionate pioneer who influenced the development of palliative medicine not only in West Australia but across the entire Asia-Pacific region. The oration tradition provides ANZSPM the opportunity to honour a member who has excelled within the field of Palliative Medicine, shown an ability to inspire others and made a significant contribution to palliative medicine and to the specialty throughout their career.
Rosalie Shaw herself has stressed that orators are free to reflect more generally on what drew them to palliative medicine and what they consider most important. The oration will open the conference presentations.
