Rooms are being held at Conference rates at the Kingfisher Bay Resort for those attending the conference. If you would like to book a room at the conference rate, please indicate your requirements when you register.
Hotel accommodation bookings must be booked using a credit card as a guarantee.
Kingfisher bay resort
2 Bedroom Villa
$383 per night
These two bedroom bush hideaways combine the intimacy of island living with 'room to move'. Enjoy the time with family and friends in the resort’s Villa-style hideaways, nestled discreetly in the treetops. All Villas are privately owned and therefore styles of furnishings etc may differ. Enjoy bush from your private deck and for ultimate indulgence upgrade to a villa with spa on the deck or a loft villa (additional $56 per night, subject to availability). Organisers Note: the Villas are located high on the sand dunes behind the resort so there is a hill/stairs to climb to return to your lodgings. The resort offers a scheduled shuttle to these Villas, but be aware that the timing may not suit your requirements and you may find that you and your family are walking up/down the hill all week.
3 Bedroom Executive/Spa Villa
$489 per night
Big enough to host a party yet intimate enough to enjoy quality time with your fellow travellers - Executive Villas offer the best of Fraser... and views to die for. It's spacious, versatile, with all the comforts of home and the perfect choice for your getaway. All Villas are privately owned and therefore styles of furnishings etc may differ.

Standard Room
$173 per night

Organisers Note: The standard rooms are within close and easy walking distance to the resort and conference area. They were recently refurbished and spacious and have 2 beds (queen and king single) in each. Travelling with a family, I would normally prefer a villa but due to closer location and cost, for this option, I would probably choose the standard rooms (interconnecting) over a villa. They are in blocks of 8 only (4 upper and 4 lower).
Cancellation Policy
As the Conference is being held during school holidays, the hotel has some very strict cancellation policies.Please be aware of the following when booking:
- Any cancellation between 29 days and 8 days prior to arrival will incur
a penalty fee of an amount 50% per room per night cancelled.
- Any
cancellation within 7 days of the event will incur a penalty fee of an
amount equalling 100% per room per night cancelled.
Payment For Room
You will not be asked to pay for your room in advance. Credit card details are collected by the conference secretariat and passed onto the hotel for them to hold as security against your room.
By providing your credit card details at registration, you are agreeing to the cancellation clauses above and understand that your card will be charged if you cancel within the period above.
Hold On Card
When you arrive at the hotel, a pre-authorisation of $100 from a credit card or cash deposit of $100 per day will be asked by the hotel for standard rooms and $500 for villas. This will be refunded on check out of the hotel, after your room has been inspected.
Check In And Out
Please note, check in time for the hotel is at 2.00pm. No guarantee is given for room availability before this time. Check out is 10.00am.
Breakfast
Breakfast is included for registered persons for 6 mornings (Tues - Sun). For those not registered for the conference, or for those staying extra days, buffet breakfast can be pre-booked for a discounted price of $25 per adult per day and $15 per child (4-14 years) per day.
If you choose not to pre-book breakfast then standard rates will be charged to your room which is $29 per adult and $20 per child.
Please note, the only other breakfast option in the resort is the general store or to bring your own.
Internet
Internet is available throughout the resort.
Cars And Parking
If you drive to Hervey Bay, you can leave your car on the mainland in a secure car park for the time you are on the island. If you wish to bring your 4WD to the island to explore on your own, additional ferry costs apply and it must be booked in advance. Parking is available in the resort.
