The following tours are included in your itinerary and the cost of registration:

Exmouth

SWIM WITH THE WHALE SHARKS  (full day)

We will be collected from the hotel for the trip to the wharf where we will meet the crew members.

Upon boarding, get to know the vessel and fit your fins, masks and wetsuits and the crew will ensure everybody is 100% at ease, feeling confident and excited!

Re-awaken your snorkelling prowess with a 'warm' up by dropping into one of the most beautiful reefs in the world at the first snorkel site and discover an abundance of coral, tropical fish, turtles and potentially even manta rays or dugongs. The guides will be right there with you in the water to steer you in the right direction, and to pay special attention to any modest swimmers. Feel free to grab one of the floating noodles should you feel like the extra bit of flotation.

While you’re busy exploring the reef, the spotter plane has already departed and is searching for the first Whale Shark cruising nearby.

All the crew-members have a passion for the ocean (it’s their life!) and are your knowledge bank for all things aquatic – many even have marine science backgrounds, so don't be afraid to ask questions.

When a Whale Shark has been spotted, it’s all systems go! The skipper heads the boat towards the Whale Shark’s location. There’s a buzz in the air, the excitement and anticipation mount amongst crew and passengers alike. You will then be split into two groups and prepare for your jump into the crystal clear waters of the Ningaloo…

You and your guide drop in and get up close and personal to the worlds biggest fish, this is your chance to experience wonder and marvel at the sheer size, grace and elegance of the biggest fish in the world. Most of these sharks are between 4 and 12 metres long but have been know to grow as large as 18 metres!

It’s likely that this won’t be your only shark, the pilot has been busy searching for another gentle giant to swim with, and on his call get ready to do it all again… And again!

It’s hungry work, and lunch will be ready as the boat continues to look for Manta Rays, Dugongs and even Humpback Whales (when in season). You’ll get yet another chance to pack more into your trip, go snorkeling or make use of our Kayaks and Paddle Boards to surrender those last bits of energy you’ve got stored away to this wondrous aquatic playground.

To celebrate a truly magnificent day, kick back and enjoy with a glass of sparkling and a seasonal fruit platter while we make our way back to the mainland. Wrap things up with a comfortable cruise right back to the front of your accommodation.

Interested in joining the cruise but don't want to swim with a Whale Shark? See below for the option to join as an observer.

Want to be an Observer?

As an alternative, you can also join the tour as an Observer. Observers are encouraged to participate in all activities such as snorkelling the reef, relaxing on board or even swimming with a Manta Ray if we find one. An Observers only restriction is that they will not enter the water with a Whale Shark, but rather observe the action from the comfort of the vessel. If an Observer were to decide on the day that you would like to try swimming with a Whale Shark after all this may be possible, if spaces are available. If these are all filled, Observers will not be able to upgrade on the day.  Please indicate at the time of registration if you just want to come along as an observer.

A discount of $140 is offered to anyone choosing to be an observer, but observer spots are strictly limited. The discount will be applied after your registration is confirmed.

Not interested?  Please indicate during registration if you do not wish to join this tour.  There will be no refunds for this portion of the itinerary but given the strictly limited numbers that can swim with the whale sharks, this will assist with planning.

No Whale Sharks:  Please be aware that whale sharks are a wild animal and although it is always hoped the swim will take place with them, this cannot be guaranteed.

(insert guarantee offered, and inc if you pull out, then no refund)

AFTERNOON SNORKELLING

Taking a packed lunch, we will head off  for the afternoon tour.  Designed with the avid snorkeler in mind, this tour maximises time in the water whilst exploring the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef at 2 fantastic snorkeling sites from a glass bottom boat.  A full 3 hours are spent on the water at Tantabiddi Sanctuary Zone and way beyond with ample opportunity to view numerous unique coral habitats whilst onboard or snorkelling.

If you don't want to be out on the water for the afternoon, you can have a free afternoon. There will be no refund for this portion of the itinerary if you choose not to join.  Please indicate at the time of registration if you don't wish to participate.

What to bring:

  • Water
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Bathers

Other things to know:

  • There are toilet facilities at the Tantabiddi boat ramp. There are no toilets aboard the glass bottom boat. We recommend that customers use the toilets at the boat ramp before embarking the vessel.
  • The marine life is not fed on this tour as the company believe such practice can lead to undesirable habits and dependence on humans. While they make every effort to bring the amazing aquatic life closer, the marine life encountered is wild – therefore sometimes there are great, long sightings and interactions – and sometimes not. That is why it is called “wildlife”.

karijini National park

Tour 1

Morning tour, departing around 8.00am and returning by 1.00pm. The focus for today is visiting Dales Gorge with the highlights being Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool.

Fortescue Falls is the only spring-fed waterfall in Karijini National Park. The water cascades down the gently sloped rocks into a pool at the base of Dales Gorge.

From the Fortescue Falls carpark, it is just a 150 m walk to the Fortescue Falls viewing area. From the viewing area, a set of stairs with handrails descends into the gorge and the path continues down some stepped rocks to Fortescue Falls and pool.

From the base of the staircase on the Fortescue Falls walk trail, a short signposted track leads upstream to Fern Pool with its small twin waterfalls, one of the most beautiful spots in the park. A wooden deck at the edge of the pool allows visitors easy access for swimming.  Fern Pool is a sacred place for local Indigenous people, who ask that visitors treat the area with respect.

Today will be a relaxing morning including some easy hiking, swimming and relaxing and approximately 40-60 min drive each way.

TOUR 2

Again, a morning tour that departs at 8.00am and returns by 1.00pm that takes us into Hancock Gorge, approximately 20-30 min drive each way.  Today is a more challenging hike that starts easily enough to the edge of the gorge. We then descend a series of solid metal ladders to the gorge floor.

From there we wade through cold pools, negotiate rock ledges on the gorge walls and clamber through stony creek beds. Along the way, the steep gorge walls are imposing and there are amazing colours and textures in the finer detail.

The gorge soon dramatically narrows and that is where the more tricky part of the Class 5 section comes into play. To continue you'll need a degree of flexibility and nerve by doing what is called the "spider walk" (where you stretch your arms and legs out to straddle the gap and move along the walls) . After getting through that, it's only a matter of metres before coming to a roped off section, the end of the trail. The gorge continues on, but it is simply too dangerous.

The view of Kermits Pool from here is wonderful. A good idea for your feet are reef shoes. They have a better grip than hiking boots and make wading through water better than bare feet.

TOUR 3

Another half day tour, departing at 8.00am.  Today we head to the north west of the national park to Hammersley Gorge which is further afield than the other gorges. Swirls of rock sweep down through the gorge and waterfalls rush into tranquil pools.

For a revitalising spa treatment like no other, take a dip into Hamersley Gorge, a natural spa rock pool in Karijini National Park. As you lie back into the water, you’ll be amazed by the spectacular rock formations carved out by Mother Nature over millions of years. Watch the reflections in the water and feel the tranquility of your awesome surroundings.

The gorge offers a tremendous view of folded bands of coloured ancient rocks, with stepped waterfalls at the base of the gorge.

From the trailhead, it is a 400m walk down roughly hewn steps to the gorge floor (about an hour return). Hamersley Gorge is somewhat wider than other gorges in the park, and offers more expansive views on the descent into the gorge itself. Here you will clearly see how the layers of rock bent and buckled before they pushed their way to the surface millions of years ago. At the base of the gorge, take a dip in the delightful gorge pool and relax in the shade of the trees.  A longer bus trip, but a relaxing destination (approx. 75 – 90 min drive each way).
