DESTINATION

When Colonel Light founded Adelaide in 1836, he had a simple plan: to create a one square mile city centre with lots of open space. Colonel Light laid out the streets on a grid and surrounded them with a ring of the now State Heritage Listed Parklands. Adelaide is a city that offers visitors a sense of freedom with room to move and an array of activities, sights and experiences to partake in. Adelaide is described as a picturesque coastal city that is easy to get to, easy to get around, easy on your pocket and it is also a green city. Adelaide is commonly known as the '20 minute' city as the ease of access and stress free travel make the city very easy to navigate.

Adelaide has something for everyone and offers an exciting cafe culture and diverse cultural mix that ensures that food is of a high standard. Highly awarded fine dining restaurants exist alongside pop up bars and food trucks. The main street of Adelaide, Rundle Street, offers a mix of historic pubs, family run cafes and restaurants. Other hot spots for eating out include the famously European Influenced Norwood Parade while Gouger Street, Chinatown and the Adelaide Central Market offer an entensive range of Asian restaurants and eateries.

Aside from eating, visitors will enjoy partaking in Adelaide's other attractions such as taking a walk through the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, seeing the 250 species of exotic and native animals including 2 giant pandas and taking a stroll along North Terrace. North Terrace is a cultural boulevard offering the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Migration Museum, the South Australian Museum and the State Library of South Australia. For those wishing to venture out of the city, the beachside precinct of Glenelg is a 30 minute tram ride away and the famous wine region of the Barossa Valley is only an hour drive from Adelaide CBD.

VENUE

The Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) opened in June 1987 and is the first purpose-built convention centre in Australia to exist. It was built to attract the meetings and conventions market of the Tourism Industry in Adelaide. The ACC is a multi-award winning venue and has a global reputation for excellence. It is consistently ranked among the world's top convention centres and has a reputation that is second to none. The ACC is known for its world-class facilities, outstanding service and modern day technology. The Adelaide Convention Centre is located right in the heart of the CBD overlooking the River Torrens. Modern trams, buses and taxis can all be caught right outside the front door of the ACC from the North Terrace. Within the 'city mile' tram travel is free of charge. A train station is located one minute from the Convention Centre and Adelaide Airport is approximately 20 minutes’ drive away.
