Not applicable
Is there a historical sub-genre you're particularly keen to see?
Adventure, Mystery, Thriller/Spy Fiction, Alternate History, biographical fiction (particularly relating to unknown or little known women from history). If anyone has written about the Irish Rebellion of 1798 I am very interested in reading it!
Which historical sub-genre is your personal favourite?
I was raised on Georgette Heyer, so I have a nostalgic fondness for regency romance, my current reads are primarily WWII, but I am also interested in The French Revolution, the Irish Rebellion of 1798, convict and early settler experiences and just about anything else!
What is your major turn-off in a book?
Not being true to the time and place the story is set in.
What is likely to really impress you besides an engaging voice and well-written book?
Interesting/unusual/little known events or characters and an immersive setting.
Any advice to your potential pitchers?
Your pitch doesn't have to be perfect - I look for potential in authors and their writing and enjoy working to bring potential to life. Be prepared for questions about your future plans/ career aspirations.
Get to know Rowena...
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
William Morris - he was not only an incredible artist and designer, he wrote what many consider to be the first modern fantasy novel (The Wood Beyond and the World which served as inspiration for both Tolkien and CS Lewis), founded the publishing house, Kelmscott Press, and was a profound thinker and visionary.
