OPEN DIETITIANS SESSION

Nutrition topics in the management of T2D in young people
Dr Shelley Rose
Professional Lead - Dietetics | Mātanga Mātai Kai
Expert Clinical Dietitian – Diabetes & Related Conditions
Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral

Dr Rose will dive into the following during the session:
Updates the nutrition components of the ANZSPED guidelines for the management of T2D in youth.
Recent research on the lived experiences and interviews of 18-25 year olds with T2DM with further interviews with younger adolescents and family members to help inform the co-design of national resources for Māori and Pacific people in the future. Research and practice goals are to support the codesign of resources for young people with T2D living in Aotearoa NZ in collaboration between the NZ Clinical Network, Researchers, Iwi, Healthcare providers, Diabetes NZ, Paediatric Society etc.

With broader Type 2 diabetes being front of mind, and clinicians looking for answers and strategies to help their patients, this session would be invaluable session to attend.
