B.J. Daniels

New York Times and USA Today bestseller, B.J. Daniels writes what she knows growing up in Montana. Published by Harper Collins/Harlequin, she loves a good mystery and works to keep her readers quickly turning the pages. Montana, the state she loves, is one of the characters in her books.

An English major, she began her writing career at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle before she sold her first short fiction to Woman’s World magazine. She went on to sell over 40 more short stories, before she wrote and sold her first book, ODD MAN OUT, in 1994.

Since then, she has written over 125 books, writing every day. Her books have made the New York Times, USA Today bestseller and Publishers Weekly lists along with winning numerous awards.

She now makes her home in Malta, Montana. She attributes her success to her love of writing and the support of her husband, Parker, who is her true hero.

Her latest book, DARK SIDE OF THE RIVER (July 26, 2023), is set in the Powder River Basin of eastern Montana. It’s the story of two warring ranch families, one run by patriarch Holden McKenna and the other by his former lover, matriarch Charlotte Stafford.

It's Never Too Late to Reach Your Dream

I had this dream growing up that one day I would write books. Which is strange since we didn’t have books in our house. My parents weren’t readers. I wasn’t much of a reader either until someone gave me a Trixie Belden mystery.

That’s the thing about dreams. Some don’t come true. Life gets in the way. I was almost fifty. It looked like I would never get the chance to find out if I could actually write a book – let alone sell it.

What I never dreamed was that I would sell my very first book, go on to write and sell more than 135 (so far) and become a New York Times bestselling author.

Heck, I just wanted to write one book and have someone read it.
I hope my story will inspire those with the same dream, because it’s true, it’s never too late to reach your dream. I’m proof of that.
