Master Your Series

There's a temptation, when you finish your first book, to turn it into a series. A lot of people think, "My hero has three hunky friends, so yay, a four book series." But there's a lot more to consider — “series drop-off” is a real thing.

In this workshop we will explore what can help make a series successful - or not. We will look at different kinds of series, what readers want in a romance series, themes that work in series, techniques for keeping readers interested, suggestions for pantsers and plotters in setting up a series, the importance of character appeal and what “series bait” is. We will particularly explore how to make a series "sticky" - in a good way - and how a series can go wrong.
