Dr Anita Heiss is a proud Wiradyuri woman and prolific author of over 20 books across genres, including the rom coms NOT MEETING MR RIGHT, AVOIDING MR RIGHT, MANHATTAN DREAMING, PARIS DREAMING and  RED DUST RUNNING.

In 2023, Anita became Publisher at Large at Bundyi Publishing, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Australia.

I love to write commercial women's fiction. I love to read historical fiction

Characters without any depth to them

What is likely to really knock your socks off besides an engaging voice and well-written book?
Something innovative. Would love to hear ideas about re-imagining a classic through a First Nations lens

Any advice to your potential pitchers?
Come armed with your synopsis. And be able to articulate:  

  • The story you want to write
  • Why you want to write it
  • Who are you writing for and why
  • How it fills a void in the market place
