It’s more than the usual feeling of tiredness after lots of work or exercise, or a bad night’s sleep, and doesn’t go away with sleep or rest. This booklet includes the latest medical research and guidance from specialist healthcare professionals, and shared tips from patients who’ve been through these procedures.

• NSW Bone Marrow Network

The Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Network was established to support collaboration, the sharing of lessons learned and networking of BMT clinicians in NSW public hospitals. The Network provides governance to statewide clinical improvement initiatives; delivers a statewide quality management service; and provides centralised education events.

• Leukaemia Foundation

The Leukaemia Foundation stands with Australia to help cure and conquer every blood cancer – with care. The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national organisation that represents the needs of all people living with any blood cancer in Australia and takes the lead in the conversation around blood cancer. Their priority is to save lives by ensuring equity of access and advocating for health service reform.

• Arrow (Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation)

Arrow is dedicated to helping medical researchers find better treatments for diseases treatable by bone marrow transplants. We fund Arrow / HCC PhD scholarships to enable innovative bone marrow and stem cell research, provide opportunities for haematology nurses and help patients and carers with the cost of everyday living expenses.

• How to Become A Bone Marrow Donor

If you are a blood donor between the ages of 18-30 then you are in the ideal age bracket to become a blood stem cell donor. You need to hold a valid Medicare card and be willing to donate anonymously to any patient in the world. 

• Transplant Australia

Transplant Australia is a charity which supports transplant recipients and their families; people on the waiting list, donor families, living donors, healthcare professionals and all those touched by organ and tissue donation.

We lead programs which encourage physical activity to increase survival rates in transplant recipients, like the Australian Transplant Games and Fit for Life.
