Pippa's world has always been filled with books, so it's no surprise she has been working at Curtis Brown for close to 25 years, currently as an Agent and Head of Agents.

She loves fiction that sits neatly in that sweet spot: something with a meaty plot that's beautifully written in an engaging voice exploring big ideas. Historical fiction and crime and thriller writers also feature on her client list. She loves a female-driven memoir and books that help you to change your life or see the world in a different way.

Single title only (80k and upwards) or Category length (45k-55k) or Novella or less (40k down to short story)

A big love story and/or romance with an edge - something different to what we have seen before!

What is your major turn-off in a book?
Bad writing!

What is likely to really knock your socks off besides an engaging voice and well-written book?
A propulsive plot and well-written prose with a hook I have never seen before!

Any advice to your potential pitchers?
Keep it short and sharp and use comp titles where you can.
