20th International Conference on Shellfish Restoration

Nelson Bay, New South Wales, Australia + ONLINE!

New dates: 27 - 30 April 2021

Following the recent postponement of ICSR 2020, NSW DPI and the ICSR Team are pleased to advise of the new dates for the conference being the 27 - 30 April 2021. Due to the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions, the ICSR 2021 will be run as a hybrid event - in person + virtual. Although we would like for everyone to come together in Nelson Bay for the conference, we understand this may not be possible and therefore, there will be the option to join the conference virtually.

Invitation to attend

On behalf of the organising committee it is our pleasure to invite you to join us at the 20th International Conference on Shellfish Restoration (ICSR), 27 - 30 April 2021 at Nelson Bay Golf Club in beautiful Nelson Bay, New South Wales, Australia.

With shellfish restoration efforts and research growing globally each year, this conference will provide an exciting opportunity to progress the science and practice of shellfish reef restoration by providing a forum to share ideas, experiences and advances from leaders in diverse fields from around the globe.

Situated just two and a half hours drive north from Sydney, within the traditional lands of the Worimi people, is the magnificent Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park. The Marine Park is extremely unique and contains an extensive, diverse array of habitats which support rich and iconic marine life including dolphins, turtles, fish, invertebrates, seabirds, over 600 fish species and seaweed species. The waterway of Port Stephens itself is 2.5 times larger than Sydney Harbour and home of the first large-scale oyster reef restoration project in New South Wales.

Located near the entrance to Port Stephens, the centrally located town of Nelson Bay never fails to impress with its natural beauty and quality visitor services. Surrounded by picturesque Tomaree Headland, golden sandy beaches, world-class scuba dive and recreational fishing sites and Australia’s largest sand dune system (our own Sahara Desert), the Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park and Nelson Bay are a perfect location for the 20th International Conference on Shellfish Restoration.

The conference will provide you with an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from all corners of the globe, have direct access to research, management and policy experts and be introduced to the newest ideas in the shellfish restoration space whilst enjoying a special part of the New South Wales marine estate.

We look forward to seeing you in Nelson Bay or online!
