Healthy Children’s Coordinator for the MNCLHD Health Promotion team

Teisha Schirmer is the Healthy Children’s Coordinator for the MNCLHD Health Promotion team. She oversees a range of healthy children’s initiatives, including PICNIC Project, Go4Fun, Munch and Move, healthy schools and NSW Routine Growth Assessments of Children. Teisha holds a Bachelor of Psychology and Master in Public Health, previously working as a lecturer and tutor for the School of Public Health at QUT. 

She is passionate about developing and implementing evidenced-based preventative health initiatives to address the social determinants of health, improve population health and achieve equity. Her recent research and practice in childhood obesity prevention includes the NSW Routine Growth Assessments of Children, First 2000 Days Webinar Series, Kilometre Club Research Evaluation and Physical Activity for Everyone. 

In 2021, she was awarded the Leading Lights Under 30 Award by the Australian Health Promotion Association in 2021.
