Brighter Beginnings First 2000 Days Summit
The NSW Government Brighter Beginnings Initiative is building and expanding programs and services to support child development from pregnancy until the school years. NSW Government agencies who are delivering services for children and their families are working together to give children the best start in life by providing parents and families with the right information at the right time, improved universal services and targeted support.
Day 1: Monday 31st October 2022
NSW Government Brighter Beginnings agencies and partners will come together to learn about the latest research and evidence on programs that support children and their families in the early years. The day will be held virtually.
The First 2000 Days Framework outlines the importance of the first 2000 days in a child's life (from conception to age 5) and the action people in the NSW Health system need to take to ensure that all children have the best possible start in life.
The NSW Health First 2000 Days Implementation Strategy 2020-2025 describes a range of NSW Health activities that contribute to the overall aims of the Brighter Beginnings initiative.
Successful implementation of the First 2000 Days Implementation Strategy 2020-25 will improve the health and development outcomes for all children giving them the start that they need to thrive now and in the future. Over time, evidence indicates that the right actions will lead to a significant and positive impact on the health and wellbeing of children, families, and our whole community.
Day 2: Tuesday 1st November 2022
Will focus on the NSW Health First 2000 Days Implementation Strategy 2020-25 and will provide an opportunity to hear about innovative service responses and approaches that have been developed to support children and their families. The day will be a hybrid event, with some in-person capacity at 1 Reserve Road St Leonards and streamed virtually.
NSW Health acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land across NSW, whose cultures and customs have nurtured and continue to nurture this land.
We would like to pay our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the state.
