27th APPES Fellows' Meeting 2026

APPES is pleased to announce the 27th APPES Fellows' Meeting and delighted to be hosting this educational meeting face to face once again. This meeting will be held jointly with Fellows from the Australia and New Zealand Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ANZSPED).

The meeting is an interactive workshop for trainees in pediatric endocrinology from the Asia-Pacific Region. It is a wonderful opportunity for intensive education and interaction with colleagues and faculty from countries within the region.



Course Objectives

To provide up to date postgraduate education for medical trainees in pediatric endocrinology from the Asia  Pacific  Region,  covering  major  areas  of  pediatric  endocrinology  and  diabetes.  

The  course  is designed  for  fellows who  are  in the  later  years of pediatric  endocrine  training  (but  not  qualified endocrinologists). Applicants should have a reasonable amount of clinical experience.

To enhance learning using a variety of education formats including case presentations, evidence-based learning, small group discussion, problem-based tutorials and an endocrine quiz.

To promote understanding about different management practices across the region.



Location and Dates

The course will be held from 6.00pm on Saturday 3 October and finish in the morning of Wednesday 7 October 2026. 

The meeting will be held in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia..

The venue is:  Mantra on View, Surfers Paradise.

This hotel is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Brisbane Airport and 40 min drive from Coolangatta (Gold Coast) Airport.   





Faculty

Faculty for the meeting are yet to be confirmed.

The APPES Education, Learning and Fellows (ELF) Subcommittee members are behind the planning for the Fellows School, and will also be supporting the event as faculty.  They are working with the ANZSPED Fellows' School organising committee to develop the program



Selection Criteria

Application is to be done on line and you can access the link on this page - below.

You will need to have the following information ready before you start your application: 

  • You need to be an APPES member to apply for the Fellows' School.  CLICK HERE to go the APPES website to join.

  • If you have participated at previous (in person) APPES fellows’ meeting (to be filled in during application process)
  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages) (this will need to be uploaded as a PDF during the application process)
  • Letter of endorsement/reference from the head of your department. (this will need to be uploaded as a PDF during the application process).
  • Applications without a letter of endorsement will not be considered.  Maximum upload size:  5MB per document  need to be an APPES member to apply, but must be members of APPES to attend and a membership fee must be paid prior to the meeting starting.

PLEASE NOTE:  No applications from Australia/NZ should be submitted via this site.  ANZSPED will have its own application process.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are accepted, you will be asked to submit at least one clinical case for possible presentation at the meeting.  This will be required within one month of acceptance.  Full details and instructions will be sent with the acceptance letter.

Fellows’ participation in the meeting will be confirmed by early May 2026.

Further details including preparation required for the meeting will be provided at that time.

Applications Close Monday 9 March 2026. 

No extension will be provided



Costs

You will be responsible for funding your own flight to Brisbane or Coolangatta (either airport is possible) to attend the Fellows school.

There will be a cost to attend of AUD600 per person (inc GST). (approx US$365).  
This is the individual cost of attendance (please see note below if a company is paying your attendance).

This amount is payable directly to the organisers and can be paid either by credit card or direct bank transfer and must be paid before you arrive at the meeting.

Payment of registration will include;

  • Accommodation (on a twin share basis and you will be allocated to share a room with another fellow).  
    • 4 night's Accommodation on the nights of Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 
  • Transfers from the airport to the conference venue
  • Attendance at the meeting
  • 3 evening meals starting with dinner on the evening of Saturday 3 October (one free night provided for own arrangements).
  • 4 breakfast, starting with the morning of Sunday 4 October
  • Morning and afternoon teas and lunches each day of the program
  • A local networking activity.
  • Attendance at all sessions
  • Copies of presentations post conference (both Fellows and Faculty)

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The registration fee is being subsidised by both ANZSPED and APPES.  If a pharmaceutical/equipment company is sponsoring your attendance, then the full price must be paid.  The full price to attend the meeting is AUD1350. Please contact the conference event team via email:   fellows@anzsped.org  to organise payment via a company.  If you do not advise that a company is supporting your attendance, and it is subsequentially found out, then your place at the Fellows' School will be cancelled.



Timetable and conditions of application

  1. Applications close Monday 9 March 2026
  2. Notification of acceptance to Fellows' School - by early April
  3. Registration to be finalised within 2 weeks of acceptance email being sent.
  4. Cases to be submitted by early May (at least 1 month from date of acceptance email being sent)
  5. Selected cases advised by end of May
  6. Powerpoint presentations for cases and flight details to be submitted in August (date to be advised)
  7. 3 October - arrival and start of Fellows' School

Please note, if you are offered a place at the Fellows' School, the above deadlines must be met.  It is a condition of acceptance that each Fellow submit a case by the deadline.  If no case is submitted, then the place offered will be revoked, and offered to another applicant.
