Invitation to Attend

On behalf of the committee, we are delighted to invite you to the ANZSPM 2022 Conference taking place in Canberra - Australia's meeting place.

The conference theme "Better Care for All: Inclusivity, equity and collaboration" is an important theme for our time. It conveys the need to improve the care we all depend on through a more inclusive approach to palliative care that is reliably available when and where it is needed. Key elements of this theme are meeting the needs of broader populations, cultural competence, and meeting the personal and ethical challenges of working in this space. This includes specific focus on the needs of people who are neurodivergent, have an intellectual disability, have a mental illness are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or who live in rural or remote areas. We are pleased to welcome international and national speakers with decades of experience to support us in responding to this challenge.

In a context where the value of face to face interaction has rarely been more apparent, the event includes a reflection on the experiences and lessons from COVID-19 to date - as well as 'where to from here?' Pre-conference workshops are in planning and we will be looking to provide delegates with unprecedented access to our key national institutions as we build a lively pre- and post-conference program.

Spring is the perfect time of year to visit Canberra, with clear sunny skies and pleasant daytime temperatures (we hope!). The conference will be held at Hotel Realm, advertised as Canberra's finest 5-star luxury hotel.

We are excited to share a relevant and timely palliative care programme in beautiful surroundings.
